Roughly fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Police state they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then found many other smeared cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis suggest the fluid was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no indication as to its source; investigators are currently not aware of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the community for details.
A senior official stated the incident left him without words and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he wrote on online, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a shooter targeting individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
