Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev won his maiden title for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a former world number one, has had a torrid season, managing just one match at the big events and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in specific - caused him exiting of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-time coach Cervara.

Now working with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's initial championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface from that period of the previous year.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one victories at 21 various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my children together, so to win a trophy is particularly special," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, including in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular reactions on the playing surface had led some to doubt if his capacity to compete at the elite level was over.

Yet the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

The champion came back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, taking 4 of the final five points to take the lead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his initial professional victory, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

He rescued four early-game break points in a tight final set before the champion broke to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, he secured the title with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
